I was a little confused at first as to what our end goal
was. I had
actually never even typed a
tweet and sent it before in my life. I
have
sent tweets for my blogs, but to do that I just click share to twitter on
Blogger and it would automatically bring up the message with a URL
to my blog
in it. (PICTURE) After @thelifeofbill showed me the
ropes, I
began the tweeting frenzy. We were asked to ask a question
about social media, as well as tag someone in our class.
I thought it was awesome that one of our classmates (sorry I
forgot your name) was able to bring Fight the New Drug into the conversation. I
can’t remember whether she @’d, retweeted, or favorite, one of their posts and added
the hashtag #socmeddiscuss. The cool
part about it was, that the organization tweeted back. Not only that, they posted a picture of two
students standing on the True Aggie block (this is a spot on campus that 98% of
students have a picture of). They
notified us that the company was founded by four Utah State students that had
an idea. That idea was Fight the New
Drug, the new drug they are referring to is pornography. I had heard of the movement before because I
saw a student in one of my classes wearing one of their very noticeable red
shirts. I asked her what it said and she informed me about the organization.
Another student in class sitting next to me (I
forgot his name too) was
shocked that it started here at Utah State University
as well. He turned to me and said, “Dang!
They even got Russell Brand talking about that. He’s got a video on YouTube!” I then went and watched the video, and
tweeted those congratulations and that they are doing a great job. I also credited them to teaming up with celebrity
Russell Brand. That is pretty cool.
I also posted a tweet asking about how another classmate felt about the discussion that we had on the cloud in class the next day to see if he had any other input.
